The purpose of
this Family history book is to tell about our ancestors, The
Svane Family in a historic perspective. It is a history of the
middle ages seen with the eyes of the Svane family in the period
of the 15th to the 18th century.
It is a Homepage by the Svane
family, a Family History Book on line, mostly in Danish
It is the history of our ancestors, about
our
roots back to Hans Svaning & Marine Sørensdatter Stage. It is the
story about their 15 children and the children's children's.
It is
about us, the cyber generation.
It is
also a story about a family, there has paid part in Danish History. A family
there have some of the greatest personalities in the political world as
well as in the artistic world.

click on the menu "Famous Svane Danes" .....written in English.
In
general, this homepage is written in Danish, not because we wanted it
this way, but because it is the language of the land, the family and as
such, most
data is only available in Danish.
However we have made small translation here
and there, as it was pertinent to the case, all though we know it is not
enough.
Back to our history, we are apparently
dissenters of Dutch Nobilities, ......through an mr. Stake
(Stage), who is mentioned in the history books as early as in 1240.
The reason for that
knowledge is, that the "Domkapitlet i Ribe" (The
Ribe Cathedral) received a deed in 1310 for, what was then known as
"Stack Mølle" (Starks Mill).
The old Mill evidently
received its name after a man of that Dutch family.
I 1400-tallet har slægten i hvert fald
haft tilknytning til Sønderjyllands daværende hovedstad Ribe der på det
tidspunkt havde en størrelse på ca. 4000 indbyggere.
It was Jacob Stage son
Søren Jacobsen Stage, there gave his daughter - Marine Sørensdatter
Stage (Starke) - hand in marriage in 1554 to Prince teacher
Hans Svaning. She was 17 years of age and he was 51 years old at the
time the got marriage.
