 Genealogy

In
the
pursuit of once roots we automatically
enter the concept of pedigree - family background, bloodlines,
ancestry etc. All this has a common denominator - namely
"genealogy".
-
Pedigree and local history demands plenty of time and patience, so
does the whole concept of genealogy, which I have called this
section of may home in cyberspace.
-
In
the local language (Danish) we do call this kind of work for "Slægtsforskning"
and my title would therefore be
"Slægtsforsker", translated into English "Family
researcher". And that is of course a grand title for a simple
bricklayer. The title Genealogist would maybe more appropriate.

So
good old fashion Genealogy is defined as being the study of the
descents of families and persons from an ancestor or ancestors.
Most of us, who seeks their roots of
our ancestors, end up making a family tree and a ancestry
tables/chart - some with a little history behind. If you do not have
a historic figure before the 17th century you can clinch
ancestors too, then that is it.

The importance about
tables/charts of ancestry is, that they are reliable and show family relations
are truthfully.
